Corpus Christi Procession

Today I participated in the 5th annual Corpus Christi procession. It started at Our Lady of Lourdes church and we walked to St. Peter's church. It's a 1.3 mile walk but we stopped twice for Benediction. Our first stop was in Hansom park and our second was at Gerald Ford birthplace. We ended at St. Peter's church and were met by church bells, fireworks and flower petals being dropped from the roof. The whole event took about 2 1/2 hours.??

The temperature was in the upper 80's and the people who planned this did offer bottled water, which was very nice. It was hard to say how big the crowd was, but I'm thinking between 800 to 1000. We all fit inside St. Peter's church for the final Benediction, so if I can find the capacity of that church, that will tell me better how many people attended the procession.??

It was very neat to see all types of people on the procession. There were young families, teens, and older people. There were people of all ethnic groups at this event too. The music and prayers were alternated between English and Spanish and was simulcasted by the local Catholic radio station KVSS.??

Walking through the neighborhoods brought people out to see what was going on. I suppose if you weren't Catholic, we did look quite the sight!??

Here are some photos from today's procession.
