Many years ago, a wise junior high teacher at our school, began a tradition of serving donuts to the junior high students after their First Friday devotions. As the students graduated our school and moved on to high school and college, the idea was for them to associate every First Friday with prayer and donuts. I asked my sons, who are graduates of my school, if they remember eating donuts every First Friday. They do! I suppose you can make your First Friday devotion without donuts, but it sure is a sweet treat. As Deacon Tom and Dee Fox say, “Our Catholic faith is a sweet treat from Jesus”.
