I Was a Rosary Interloper!

Today was the 2nd annual Run, Walk, and Pray for Vocations sponsored by the Serra Club of Omaha. It’s a fun walk for me. It’s only 1.5 miles and the route is around the beautiful Memorial Park. Last year I walked with my cousin Cathy. That was fun to catch up with her on all sorts of family news. But this year, she had a funeral to attend.

So, I walked alone.

But not really!

We began the day with a Mass said by Archbishop George Lucas at St. Margaret Mary Church. I did record his homily by using Audio-Boo on my iPhone. Here is a photo of the front of this church.

So after Mass, we assembled in the parking lot for our walk. Part of this event is to encourage people to pray for Vocations. As you signed up online to participate, you indicated what you would pray. Some people couldn’t walk or run, but everyone prayed! Let’s go to the totals.

Then after a quick prayer and blessing by the Archbishop, we were off!

The runners got a fast start for their 5k and the walkers followed them closely. I was walking solo until I came up to 3 young men who were praying the Rosary. This is where I Interloped! I followed them as they prayed the Rosary. I prayed silently with them. When the Rosary was complete, I introduced myself. Their names were Elliott, Scott, and Eddie. And guess what? They were Seminarians in town for the Institute for Priestly Formation! How cool is that?
