What do you do if you are 3 books short?

We started a new class book today. The book is Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. I love Kate DiCamillo’s writing style. Her books make great read aloud books. I have already read, to my class, The Tale of Despereaux. My third graders really loved that book.

As I was gathering the box that contains all the copies of the book, I counted them and hoped there were 32 copies. I discovered we were 6 books short. Our school librarian was able to give me the 3 copies that our library had. But, we were still 3 books short. What’s a techy-geeky teacher to do? Technology to the rescue!

My class has a Nook, so I put a copy of our book on it. I then put a copy on my personal Kindle. Then, I added the Amazon Cloud Reader to my computer and sent that to the SmartBoard. Voila, We now have 32 copies of the story Because of Winn-Dixie!
