All Bluegrass loving people were invited, by the neighbor down a ways, for a Bluegrass Festival. Joy is a big fan of Bill Monroe, who is seen as the Father of Bluegrass Music. For the past 10 years, she hosts people from all around to her yard to sit, eat, and listen to Bluegrass Music. The party started around 5:00 and ended at 10:00. She had 2 bands this year, Two Old, Too Young and The Whitetop Mountain Band. Joy welcomed??personally??as many people ??as she could. She said we might have been the family that traveled the farthest to her party! We brought our folding camp chairs and found a place to sit. We think there might have been between 100 to 150 guests. Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner. The music began and then at 6:00 we all ate dinner. Joy provided hot dogs and pop for everyone. Everyone brought a dish to share. Grandma Toots made her famous Cherry Squares. It was quite a spread!

After dinner, people began dancing on the dance floor she set up which was to the side of the stage. There was clogging, two step and even some square dancing. The first band was 4 men and the second band was a family band. I love how the vocals blend with a family band.??
The evening ended with a short fireworks display. It was a unique experience for this Nebraska gal.??
